Mindfulness for the Ruhuna University & School Teachers

About 50 teachers and 10 university academic staff participated in a special mindfulness program conducted by Venerable Dhammajiva Tero as part of Sati Sarasaviya. The program was organized by the Matara Bhodhi Arakshaka Sabha.

Research Studies Showing the Benefits of Mindfulness on Young Adults

On a regular basis research studies describing the benefits of mindfulness on undergraduates, get published in globally recognized journals. Most of these publications result from studies conducted in universities and affiliated institutions in the USA, UK, Canada and Australia. Some of these studies can be accessed on the links given.

සති සරසවිය – Mindfulness on Campus inaugural program at University of Sri Jayawardenapura

On the 19th November 2016 the Faculty of Medical Sciences, University of Sri Jayawardenapura initiated a secular mindfulness program for its students. About 55 students and staff members of the Faculty voluntarily participated in a two hour program. Few members of Medical Faculties from other universities participated as well. The evolution of Mindfulness in a global setting, advances in neuroscience demonstrating benefits of the practice and the presence of mindfulness in higher education institutions and universities overseas, were presented.
Guided sessions of mindful sitting and mindful walking were conducted, followed by a lively discussion.
The introduction of mindfulness to Sri Lankan schools through the secular program සති පාසැල and an analysis of feedback from students and teachers were also presented.
